Scéim Aitheantas mar Scoil Ghaeltachta - Cad é? / Irish School Recognition Scheme -What is it?

A Chairde,

Déanfaidh scoileanna a thugann faoi bheith ina scoileanna Gaeltachta, trína bpróisis fhéinmheastóireachta scoile (FMS), plean gníomhaíochta scoile-uile don fheabhsúchán a fhorbairt a léireoidh go soiléir an tslí ina gcomhlíonfaidh an scoil na riachtanais don phróiseas aitheantais ar bhealach céimnithe agus an tslí ina ndéanfar naisc a bhunú le pobal áitiúil na scoile chun úsáid na Gaeilge a chothú.

I mbliana, tá achmhainn breise faighte aga Coláiste na Coiribe sa scéim seo: Ina measc, na h-achmhainn ná:

  • Uaireanta tacaíochta teanga breise don Ghaeilge
  • Fáil ar dheontas bliantúil (€1,200) chun acmhainní teagaisc Gaeilge a cheannach
  • Forbairt ghairmiúil leanúnach breise curtha ar fáil ag COGG
  • Tacaíocht bhreise ón gCigireacht tríchuairteanna comhairleachabreise chun tacú lescoileannaa spriocanna maidir le feidhmiú na gcritéar teangabhunaithe Gaeilge a bhaint amach

Schools that commit to becoming Gaeltacht schools will, through their school self-evaluation processes (SSE), develop a whole-school action plan for improvement that will demonstrate clearly how the school will fulfil the requirements of the recognition process in a staged way and how it will build linkages with its local community to foster the use of the Irish language.

This year, Coláiste na Coiribe received the following;

  • 10 additional language support hours
  • Annual grant (€1,200) to buy Irish language teaching resources
  • Additional continuing professional development provided by COGG
  • Additional support from the Inspectorate through additional advisory visits to support schools to achieve their goals regarding the implementation of the language-based criteria

Below, you will find a plan outlining the use of these support hours. This plan forms part of the schools overall school improvement plan. Our School startegic Plan is based on 3 main pillars - Teaching, Learning, Assessment & Reporting, Wellbeing and finally but not least - An Ghaeilge. The plan below shows our 'Plean don Ghaeilge' only. This plan uses the 11 language based critieria outlined by the Inspectorate which is required in fulfilling the language-based criteria for recognition as a Gaeltacht school

Critéir Theanga-Bhunaithe / Language Based Criteria:

Mar a fheiceann tú sna pictiúrí ceangailte, tá 11 critéir theanga agus tá orainn diriú isteach ar na critéir seo chun stádas mar scoil Ghaeltachta a bhaint amach. Tá na critéir seo mar bhun-chloch sa phlean feabhsúcháin scoile atá againn don bhliain seo.

As you see in the pictures below, there are 11 language-based criteria to be met by the school to be recognised as a Gaeltacht post-primary school. These criteria are very much part of our school improvement plan for this year.
